Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions I’m often asked.

I’m happy to talk through any of these further, along with any others you may have.

  • I work with individuals over the age of 18 and my approach is primarily Person-Centred, meaning our sessions are guided by what feels most important to you.

Talking therapy is conversational and interactive. We can take things at your pace, gently exploring your situation, thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Having the space to talk openly can bring clarity, relief, and a deeper understanding of yourself.

  • I can support with a wide range of difficulties including navigating distressing situations, anxiety, loss and bereavement, low mood and issues around confidence and self-esteem.

You can find a fuller list of things I can help with here.

  • My approach is non-directive, so isn’t advice-based.

Talking through what you bring often naturally involves exploring ways to cope as well, though. I may also offer relevant strategies along the way — these would be offered without pressure rather than homework or any requirement of sessions.

  • I currently work remotely, with sessions held over telephone or video.

Online counselling is now a well-established way of working. It offers flexibility, can remove barriers around travel or time constraints, and allows you to access sessions from the comfort of your own space.

It’s very common for any hesitation about remote working to shift once sessions begin, and for online counselling to feel natural and comfortable.

Video sessions feel very similar to meeting face to face, while telephone sessions offer a little more distance, which some people find helps them to talk more freely.

If you’d like to get more of a sense of how sessions tend to feel, you can read a little more about how I work here.

If you’re unsure, we can talk it through together in an initial chat to see what feels right for you.

  • Each 50-minute session costs £55.

Payment is made by bank transfer (BACS), and details will be given when the first session is arranged.

  • I offer a free 20-minute initial chat, so you can ask any questions and see if we feel like a good fit. This is often helpful but not a requirement — you can simply arrange a first session if that feels easier.

Once the first session is arranged, I will email you with more information about sessions and terms, often referred to as the ‘working agreement’.
